After many disgusting attempts at these two, I uninstalled them from my computer. Riven would begin to play, but after a few minutes, it too would lock up and no longer respond. In any event, I can not recommend this game. I was unable to get Myst, the first game to run at all. It would go through the opening story, then lock up completely. Myst lll Exile, would run, and play, but I was unable to get anywhere in the game, probably due to my own discouragement after the other two not so good times.I should tell you that I am running Vista, not the older versions, like XP or 98, so perhaps that would account for the first two versions not running.
Sorry, there will be other games, this one's a ripoff. As it turns out, you have to downgrade Quicktime to an old version to make it work. I bought Myst Anniversary Edition for my son, who loves puzzles. Unfortunately, all I get is a black screen with a hand and no option but to kill the window. If you do, you can't run Itunes.Don't buy the game.
I would be returning this product if my wife didn't happen to have an old PC to run it on.BOOO. Only Myst III Exile can even run on OSX, and you have to install Rosetta Stone to do it. This game is listed as being Mac compatible, but it only runs on mac OS 9. It is absurd to call it mac compatible when OS9 hasn't been sold in years. Extremely deceptive.
Hours of fun. The graphics are beautiful. Loved every minute of it. This game is a must for those who love adventure games, and mind challenges. This particular version of the myst game suits very well for Vista. I will be playing it again in the future.
For people that like action or shooting games, or have very little patience, I would stay away. I recommend Myst to everyone. Great games. Beautiful scenery. Someone who enjoys puzzle solving will love this game.
